Early Beginnings

PALCO was founded in 1986 in Huntsville, Alabama, when GTE Corporation (now part of Verizon) divested its telephone repair, refurbishment, and payphone manufacturing businesses.

During this period, PALCO specialized in repairing and refurbishing telecommunications equipment such as business key systems, central office equipment, and related electronic business telephone equipment.

Early 2000s

During the early 2000s, PALCO was one of the leading cellular phone returns management and repair organizations in the world. In 2004, the company acquired Teranetix, the sustaining engineering, logistics, and repair division of Fortune 500 company Intergraph Corporation (now Hexagon). This marked a shift in PALCO’s focus to servicing more complex technology such as carrier grade telecom equipment and networking equipment.

2010

PALCO has spent the last decade becoming a truly global organization. In 2010, PALCO opened its doors in the Netherlands to service the EMEA region. PALCO expanded its global reach again in 2014 in Juarez, Mexico, and Penang, Malaysia. Since 2018, PALCO has expanded its footprint in the United States and the APAC region to accommodate increased client demand.

Present

PALCO is a Tier I diversity owned company as well as a national certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) by the U.S. Small Business Administration. PALCO is certified by the State of Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs Office of Minority Business Enterprise.

Our Roots

PALCO still embraces its OEM roots. Our engineering and repair capabilities are trusted by multiple Fortune 500 companies operating in the telecommunications, networking, data storage, and computing industries. With technical talent and expertise in process development honed by decades of conducting returns management for OEMs, we currently apply this to our data center services and retail businesses as well.

1986

Founded in Huntsville, AL; Awarded GTE Communications Systems Consumer Premises Repair & Refurbishment Contract.

1988

Awarded BellSouth Contract providing Repair & Refurbishment of Consumer Premises Equipment.  

1990

Awarded Nortel Networks Telecommunications and Network equipment Repair & Refurbishment Contract.

1992

Awarded Samsung Business Telephone System Repair, Refurbishment, and Support Contract.

1998

Initial ISO 9000 Certification.

1999

Awarded Samsung Wireless Returns Management Level 1 & 2 repairs for Cellular Handsets; Awarded Returns Management and Level 1 – 4 Repair contract with global telecommunications and networking equipment OEM.

2001

Awarded Cingular Wireless Returns Management supporting all Major Cellular Original Equipment Manufactures Level 1, 2 & 3 Repairs; Awarded Returns Management and Repair contract supporting global RAID controller OEM.

2003

Women Business Enterprise National Council Certification as Women Owned Business.

2004

Acquired Teranetix; Awarded Contract with Motorola Mobility providing Level 1 -3 Repair and Refurbishment of Cellular Handsets.

2005

 Initial TL 9000 Certification.

2006

Award Nokia Care Services Level 1 -4 Repair and Refurbishment Cellular Handsets.

2014

Expanded operations into Mexico and Malaysia; Initial R2 Responsible Recycling Certification; Initial ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification.

2018

Awarded logistics, testing, and repair contract with major telecommunications hardware Value-Added Reseller.

2020

Expanded programs to include Returns Management of kitchen countertop appliances, coffee makers, home audio and other retail products for major U.S retailers and OEMs.
